The first time I tried to raise it, the wait annoyed me. By the next day I no longer wanted to deposit more, and I understood what it was for.
DaleWin: how the deposit limit works
The limit is set inside the account and does not depend on support. These are the rules worth knowing before you set it:
- it caps how much you deposit in the chosen period, not how much you lose;
- lowering the cap applies immediately;
- raising it only takes effect after the waiting period set by the operator;
- a deposit above the cap is rejected by the cashier.
The third point raises the most questions in chat. Yet it is not a fault: it is how the tool is designed, and the account itself shows the exact wait when you request the change.
DaleWin and the three control tools
The deposit limit is not the only tool, and each one fits a different moment. The table orders them from the softest to the firmest:
| Tool | What it does | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Caps deposits for the period | Lowering: at once; raising: after the wait |
| Cooling-off period | Pauses the account for 7 days | Once confirmed with support |
| Self-exclusion | Blocks the account for at least six months | Once confirmed with support |
The limit helps you play in order; the other two help you stop for a while. Both the pause and self-exclusion are requested by chat or email, as I explain in limits and self-exclusion.
DaleWin: how I choose my cap
A limit you have to change every week is set wrong. So I build it from the monthly budget, in this order:
- I decide how much I can put into gambling in the month without touching fixed costs;
- I split that amount into four weeks;
- I set the weekly limit at that figure, without rounding up;
- I leave the cap alone for at least a month before reviewing it.
With 100 USD a month, the weekly limit is 25 USD. If I hit the cap midweek, the week is over, even if I feel like going on.
DaleWin: what I do when I hit the limit
Reaching the cap is exactly what the limit is meant to do. At that point I follow three rules:
- I don't look for another payment method to get around the cap;
- I don't request an increase on the day I hit it;
- if I want to raise it, I think it over once the week is closed, not in the middle of a session.
If the urge to get around the limit keeps coming back, that is a sign to look more closely. Gamblers Anonymous offers meetings and support at no cost, and the 7-day pause can be requested through live chat.
DaleWin operates under an Anjouan licence, so its control tools depend on the operator, and it is worth switching them on yourself.
